  • November 16, 2004 12:28 - Speed up your metabolism in time for Xmas!

Hello again! Last time I promised fitness tips to get that metabolism whizzing in time for Xmas!

As you've probably heard, a wonderful way to get trim and stay there is by walking ten thousand steps per day. The average person walks approx 3000 steps per day. Ten thousand steps is approx. five miles.

Until recently, although I was doing daily yoga and walking I was nowhere near the 10,0000 steps! However, I decided the culprit was the car...so I sold it! I know this is not practical for some, Read more about my car selling madness and easy ways to reach 10000 steps!

A truly fabulous exercise that will speed your metabolism and tone you up in as little as ten minutes a day are the Five Tibetan Rites. I've been doing them for over two years and they really do what they promise. Within a short time of doing them I found I'd recaptured the metabolism I'd had at twenty five [nearly twenty years later!]

Soon after I began I recommended them to a friend. She phoned me just two weeks after she'd been doing them, absolutely thrilled..........

Without doing anything else apart from adding the Five Rites to her daily routine she'd lost the seven pounds she'd been trying to get rid of for years!

I'll be keeping to the Xmas theme in this newsblog until Xmas! Next time find out about a secret diet!

November 29, 2004 09:34 - Here's an easy way to slim for Xmas!

Do you want to lose a few excess pounds before Xmas? Would you like to begin the festive season with pleasantly loose waistbands....

No, I don't mean to rush out and buy bigger clothes..just go on a secret diet!

Have you noticed that as soon as you announce 'I am on a diet' it suddenly seems more difficult. You feel pressurized. If you indulge in a little 'treat' you're met with a chorus of...

'But I thought you were on a diet!'.

    Or..

'Oh, go on don't be a spoilsport a little blah blah or blah won't harm you!'

Or at this time of year you might get..

"Don't be ridiculous how can you possibly diet on the run-up to Xmas!"

Make it your own little secret and the pounds will drop off..

    Here's how:

Eat smaller portions of everything except for vegetables. Fill the extra space on your plate with veggies deliciously seasoned to your taste!

    Snack on fruit between meals.

I know this sounds simple but as you know fortunes are made from complicating weight-loss diets and surrounding them with mystery....

An friend of mine, now in her eighties, told me that whenever she's put on a little extra poundage she's just halved her usual portions until she's back to the weight she's happy with.

And she's never told a soul she's been dieting..and nobody has ever guessed.

They're far to busy tucking into their mountain of food!

Have fun with your little secret!

Oh, and of course make sure you include exercise you enjoy..you can even get fit while you sit!

The next issue will deal with minimising stress in the often frantic weeks of December!

    Bye for now,
    Best Wishes Janet

December 4, 2004 16:11 - How To Enjoy Xmas More Starting Now!

    Hello and welcome to December!

Although it sounds boring, with a capital B the key to enjoying Xmas more is not leaving everything til the last minute!

    Obvious, but oft overlooked fact!

I remember having a nightmare that I'd left it 'til the last minute to buy Xmas presents...and all the shops had closed...then I woke up......and it was only November...phew!

But during my retail and banking experience I have seen this happen for real....

In my teens I worked in a bank. It was in the dark ages, before nearly everyone had a credit cards. We closed early on Xmas eve, at noon. At approx 12.15 one year there was a loud hammering on the door. A desperate man was there in tears..he hadn't drawn out the cash to buy his presents...

And the management, because of stringent security rules, couldn't help him.

And during my years in retail I've seen countless people having a horrible time....desperately trying to get their shopping done at the last minute!

Don't let this happen to you. It's not too late to start early! Enjoy the run-up to Xmas by realising it will be here in a flash, and you haven't got 'bags of time' to do it later'

So don't spoil it for yourself by ending up with too much to do in too short a time!

    But most important of all.....

    Have fun!

    Best wishes,
    Janet
