December 4, 2004 16:11 - How To Enjoy Xmas More Starting Now!

Hello and welcome to December!

Although it sounds boring, with a capital B the key to enjoying Xmas more is not leaving everything til the last minute!

Obvious, but oft overlooked fact!

I remember having a nightmare that I'd left it 'til the last minute to buy Xmas presents...and all the shops had closed...then I woke up......and it was only November...phew!

But during my retail and banking experience I have seen this happen for real....

In my teens I worked in a bank. It was in the dark ages, before nearly everyone had a credit cards. We closed early on Xmas eve, at noon. At approx 12.15 one year there was a loud hammering on the door. A desperate man was there in tears..he hadn't drawn out the cash to buy his presents...

And the management, because of stringent security rules, couldn't help him.

And during my years in retail I've seen countless people having a horrible time....desperately trying to get their shopping done at the last minute!

Don't let this happen to you. It's not too late to start early! Enjoy the run-up to Xmas by realising it will be here in a flash, and you haven't got 'bags of time' to do it later'

So don't spoil it for yourself by ending up with too much to do in too short a time!

But most important of all.....

Have fun!

Best wishes,
Janet

December 9, 2004 14:49 - Would you like to enjoy a happy stress-free holiday?

Then sleep!

Not through it, just to it!

Get enough sleep and you'll be happier, brighter, more beautiful and less stressed! Most adults have quite a large sleep debt. Gradually pay this off before Xmas and watch your mood, efficiency and appearance improve!

So when you get to the day instead of letting Great Aunt Bertha making you want to screeeeaaaammm you'll just stay nicely detached and think:

"Ah, she can't help it, probably hasn't had enought sleep, poor old thing!"

Research has shown that sleep deprivation can accelerate aging, and it's related conditions.

But that won't happen to you, because you'll be..............

Early to bed and earlyish to rise making you healthy, wealthy, beautiful and wise!

So don't start the holidays with a sleep debt. Check out my free natural sleep tips!

Sweet dreams,
Another tip next time. Watch this space!

December 14, 2004 11:33 - Chocolate avalanche problem diverted!

The average woman consumes approx three times her usual amount of calories on Xmas day...me included!

Obviously that's a bit of a strain on the digestive system. Don't spoil your Xmas with indigestion. Try the ayurvedic tip of sipping hot water with your meals to keep your digestive fire burning....

That's if you haven't already put it out with a chocolate avalanche!

Also go for a walk after your main meal....This will massage your intestines and help keep things moving!

These tips are based on ayurveda. You'll find these tips, and more, on my ayurveda for weight loss page.

Also

If quite a few of those calories are coming from alcohol your liver is not going to be happy!

To help keep your liver happy take milk thistle....

'A dietary supplement intended to support liver health and function. The herbs in this formula have traditionally been used to restore and protect the liver, detoxifying both the liver and gall-bladder and stimulating the natural secretion of juices such as bile and thereby promoting better evacuation.'

That's it for today folks...another Xmassy tip soon!

December 18, 2004 17:39 - Wishing You a Happy Healthy Holiday!

After making all those preparations for Xmas don't spoil it with a cold! Make sure you're getting adequate vitamin C. It is amazing for warding off colds, flu and a host of other nasties. It is one of nature's most undervalued gifts. Scientific studies are now discovering what vitamin C lovers have known for oodles of time......

Higher doses of vitamin C ward of colds and flu. If a virus does happen to 'slip by' then mega-dosing on vitamin C zaps those nasties in no time.

There are so many varying reports regarding the optimum dose. Personally I take 1-2 grams per day. At the very first sign of a sniffle or sore throat I mega-dose on up to 20 grams per day, taken at two hourly intervals.

It works for me...I haven't had a cold for four years. Ironically, the last one was at Xmas!

So get eating those oranges, clementines, satsumas and cranberries. Not to mention your sprouts. You see, it's a Xmas vitamin!!

I wish you a wonderfully Happy Holiday Season.

December 23, 2004 11:55 - Have The Happiest Holidays Ever!

Christmas is nearly here! Hope you're not letting it stress you. If you're running around getting last minute pressies just trust your instinct. Don't worry! If you're stuck maybe rather than thinking "what would so and so find useful?" treat them to a few little luxuries they probably wouldn't buy for themselves:

It's easy...rather than hunting for gifts, walk around calmly and let the gifts choose you!

And one final little note...Did you know it would take approx 14 hours of aerobics to burn up the average 7,000 Christmas day calorie intake?

So here's a tip for you:

It's the first three bites that the taste buds really register. So really take your time over the first three bites of anything truly calorific. It may be all you need. And have extra bites of the healthier, lower calorie foods.

"What's' that?"...Your Xmas pud is gone in three bites...

Then take smaller bites..and above all, have fun!

Have the Very Best Xmas Ever,
Best Wishes,
Janet

December 26, 2004 12:02 - The Joy of Gratitude!

Hope you all had a Happy December 25th!

Christmas is still here, of course! It's just that, for most, the giving and receiving of gifts has finished. The enjoyment certainly hasn't. And never should! There's no reason we can't enjoy the 'spirit of Christmas' every day.

The joy of giving and receiving is powerful. And it leads on to something really poweful:

The power of gratitude!

"Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it"
(William Arthur Ward )

The more we are grateful for all the goodness and gifts in our lives, the more of them we receive. Everything from a smile to a sparkling diamond!

Enjoy yourselves!

December 31, 2004 14:38 - Easy Ways To Keep New Year's Resolutions!

I hope 2005 will be a wonderful year for you.

Will you be making any New Year resolutions? It's good to be positive, but as you know, most resolutions "fall by the wayside" sometimes as early as January 1st!

So don't be harsh on yourself if this happens. Just start again! You can make a resolution at any time.

Try keeping it [or them] a secret. It's less of a pressure that way, and you're more likely to succeed. Or you could choose Emile Coue's fabulous saying as your all time resolution:

"Every Day, in every way, I am getting better and better"

That covers just about everything!

Say it inwardly, write it down or announce it to yourself while looking in the mirror. However, or whenever you like!

Maybe your Resolution involves quitting your job? This is often "too big a step" for those with financial responsibilities. You could earn money via your own website about someting you love..

Then you could hand in your notice when you start making enough money.

I highly recommmend SBI! for this, I built this site with them and they make it so easy: Find out more about a build easy web site!

Enjoy!

January 6, 2005 10:28 - Twelfth Day of Christmas. Decadence and Detox!

A very Happy New Year to you all!

This is the last day of Christmas, twelfth day. So if you still want a reason to celebrate...go for it!

However, maybe you are eager[ish!]to start your New Year detox? I think it can be a bit difficult to lurch headlong into frugality after so much decadence. So I tend to think of January as a transitional month. A balance of hedonism and puritanism or sloth and activity!

I do my really 'serious' detox in February, it is fabulously effective. I'll be posting the method in this blog, if you're interested!

But, for now, make sure you have at least a few 'pure' days per week. No processed food, alcohol, sugar etc. A day, two or three at a time of cous cous, veg and fruit is very purifying. And brilliant for weight loss!

Talking about weight loss the best exercises I know for losing weight and keeping it off are the Five Rites. They really speed up your metabolism and keep you young and gorgeous, in only a short time per day!

I've been doing them for two years and, for me, they are nothing short of miraculous! Find out more about the truly amazing Five Tibetan Rites!

See you soon!
