An old friend of mine used to give up alcohol for one month a year. He chose February because it is the shortest month!

I've copied him because February is my purification month. No alcohol or processed food. Just basmati rice, dhal and cooked fruit and veggies. And plenty of warm to hot water. I always feel reborn by the 28th. And all those clothes that had become tight over Christmas and beyond become wonderfully loose.

It's the best beauty treatment I know!

Not tooo long to go now until spring! I hope none of you are getting depressed or S.A.D. It is so important to get out there in the fresh air and daylight. You need it to keep you happy. You also need it to boost those melatonin levels to get a good night's sleep. Then you'll be even happier...

Another wintery tip is to put little drop of pure sesame oil (not the toasted variety!) up each nostril before going into hot crowded places......

Shops restaurants and aeroplanes are good examples.

It helps stop any wintery germs that are flying around from getting at you.

And just so we can look forward to summer....

Doing this also helps to stop hay fever. So cast yourself forward to the summer. You're mowing the lawn wearing your tiny bikini, nostrils oiled...

Or, if you prefer, you're on your sun lounger! But you still want to be protected from all the pollen flying around.

This is so true! You don't have to give cards to send out love. You don't even have to have a particular [or several!] beloveds. Just send out loving thoughts into the world and get them back tenfold. So even if you don't receive a single 'Lovey Dovey' card you'll have an abundance of love coming right back at you.

That's not to say that receiving and giving cards isn't fun. It is! Just don't think it means anything if you don't get one. That's just on the surface. It's the deeper stuff that matters! I know,that last sentence was so eloquent!

Here's a great ayurvedic weight loss tip:

If you're hungry between meals drink a cup of warm water and honey. Your hunger will most likely go. If it doesn't then you can assume you really are hungry, not just bored!

It really is good to let your previous meal digest before adding more fuel to the fire. As my ayurvedic doctor put it:

"It's like continually adding more beans to the soup....it will never cook!"

Other people's opinions can be interesting. But you don't have to take them all on board. Trying to will just drive you crazy!

Dharma is just another name for life path. A good example of this is the storyline often seen in movies:

Child is miserable because mother/father wants him/her to follow in his/her footsteps. Never under-estimate how traumatic this can be. If something is not right for you and you're trying to make it fit then much pain can result...

Just think of the 'ugly sisters' trying to fit into Cinderella's slipper!

So, if you're experiencing stress ask yourself:

"Am I being myself or am I trying to be what another would like me to be?"

The path to happiness is to be your true self. This in turn will make those around you happier because you will be also giving them 'permission' to be themselves.

So spread happiness by being true to yourself.
