January 5, 2006 14:52 - Eating chocolate in January!

Wishing you an extremely happy and healthy 2006!

Have one or two of your resolutions, diet or otherwise, fallen by the wayside? Don't be too hard on yourself! It's difficult go directly from celebration to abstinence mode...

Personally, I don't even try! I find it happens naturally if I stay spontaneous. I gradually want less of the 'naughties' and more of the 'healthies' and I'll probably be desperate for my month of February detox [tee hee, the shortest month!]

I'm usually ready for it by then, and it won't even be an effort, just a natural transition. Until then I'll keep my fruit and veg intake high, but will not shun any desire for the odd chocolate or three!

Have fun!

January 12, 2006 14:45 - Make 2006 Your Happiest Year Yet!

Worry can be a real happiness spoiler...

Most worry is usually a ‘what if’ about the future or an ‘if only’ about the past. The present is called ‘the present’ because it is a gift. Make sure you unwrap it!

Everything you ever need can always be found in the present moment.

If you mainly focus on the past or future you will miss most of the gifts and bliss the present has to offer.

Sometimes staying in the now is easier said than done. Don’t get upset if it isn’t easy. A trick is to enjoy the present while letting any little niggles about the past or future lurk in the sidelines. Don’t try and solve them. You’ll make them bigger. Don’t try and push
them out, they’ll drown out the present. Let them be, and hopefully they’ll leave..

Just don’t let them spoil your happiness.

Be reassured that you are not alone. We all get worries. It’s how we deal with them that makes the difference between happiness and misery.

January 17, 2006 14:26 - Are you sad with the winter blues?

Is this time of the year getting you down? Don't worry you're not alone, most people feel a little sad in winter. It's just the winter blues...

However, don't fight your urge to hibernate, it's quite normal and healthy to just want to disappear under the duvet.

Winter was mainlty for sleeping in the days before electricity, and we still possess that natural urge. Also, think of bears and tortoises.

I shudder when think of the poor tortoise I had when I was little. I could never wait for him to come out of hibernation, and used to keep checking to see if he was awake. Poor Timmy!

However do try and get out into the fresh air as much as possible. Everything always looks dull out of a window [house or car], but seems so much brighter when you're outside. I certainly feel so much better after a nice long walk. And I know what I'm talking about, as I live in Scotland where it can get very grey in winter...

The Scottish word for it is 'dreich', which, too me really sums it up!

Anyway, it won't be too long until spring. Meanwhile, perhaps this page regarding alleviating depression may be a help.

See you soon, meanwhile I'm getting back under my duvet!

January 19, 2006 12:10 - Quick Tip For Gorgeous Hair

Is your hair looking its glorious best? If not it may only be due to product build-up. I find that the best [and cheapest] way to return to your lustrous locks is the following:

Simply mix in a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda to your usual shampoo. Wash and rinse as usual...

Hey presto! Your hair should look fuller and thicker...

If not then maybe it really is time for a trim!

Or here's a recently added page, Forever Young, you may enjoy visiting.

January 20, 2006 14:46 - Lose weight eating biscuits!

People who find it difficult to lose weight are often too hard on themseves...

They see breaking their healthy eating regime or diet with something 'naughty' as a big failure.

For example they are so annoyed they've eaten one biscuit [or cookie!] that they decide they might as well eat the whole packet!

However, those that lose weight more easily might say..."So what, one biscuit!" They know that one won't make much difference and just get back to the original plan.

Now, where's that biscuit tin!?

February 7, 2006 14:04 - Quick Weight Loss and Detox!

The healthier our food intake, the easier it is to maintain a healthy weight. Give your body what it really really wants and it won't constantly demand more...

And it will be much easier to lose any excess pounds and enhance your health...

Your body loves super healthy food that's easy to digest.

February is the month that I only eat fruit, vegetables, healthy grains and pulses. I also stick to mainly water or caffeine and sugar-free drinks. And, of course, no alcohol.

At the end of January my jeans were getting to the point where I was convincing myself they'd 'shrunk in the wash'...

And now, after just six days they're lovely and lose again...

They must have stretched!

Here's an easy quick detox and weight loss fix I often use between Februarys.
