June 2, 2006 09:48 - Have Your Cake and Eat It!

Have your cake and eat it!

Do you find it hard to resist the cake or pudding after a meal out, or at anytime? Try the three bite 'trick'. Apparently it's the first three bites of a new taste that are the most yummy...

That's when the tast buds are saying "Whoopeedoo!" But those taste buds are a tad fickle and they get a bit bored after the first three bites...

Problem is that we often keep eating the gorgeous cake trying to experience anew the pure heaven of those first bites, especially that first one!

And don't worry about waste, worry about waist. Better in the bin/garbage that on the hips. Don't treat yourself as a garbage bin! Never forget the saying...

"A minute on the lips a lifetime on the hips"

Of course, this 'rule' can apply to any 'naughty' food, not just cake. Healthy stuff is different. Don't limit your fruit, veggies and other things that make your body and soul jump for joy. The 'three bite rule' doesn't apply to broccoli...

but it should probably apply to deep fried broccoli fritters!

June 13, 2006 11:05 - Easy way to stay slim!

Keep your portions small to stay slim. If you compare the average size restaurant portions in France and USA you'd discover that the French ones are usually a lot smaller.

Coming from the UK I would guess we're somewhere between the two. But I must admit, our portions seem to be gradually getting bigger!

So, don't be manipulated. Order the small portion, and if that's still too much just leave it on your plate!

Also serve smaller portions at home. Studies have shown that most people eat what's on their plate. Those served a smaller portion were just as satisfied as those who'd scoffed a larger one!

We tend to eat smaller portions more slowly, which is more satisying and healthier for the digestive system. Large portions are overwhelming so we subconsciously eat faster

But you don't need to minimize your servings of fruit and veg. The more you eat of these the happier your body will be and the [even] less you'll need of eveything else.

June 20, 2006 12:10 - Amazing Anti Cancer Herbs

I've just been surfing the net reading some most uplifting articles about the effectiveness of Carctol, an ayurvedic anti-cancer herb...

From Carctolhome.com:

"Carctol is a blend of naturally occuring Indian herbs produced by Dr Nandlal Tiwari, an expert in Ayurvedic medicine.

Dr Tiwari, from Jaipur in the Rajasthan state of India, has been prescribing the medicine to cancer sufferers since he discovered the formula, after research on indigenous herbs in the forests of Assam, over twenty years ago.

Through Dr Tiwari's own work and additional tests in the UK, Carctol has proved effective as a life-enhancing formula for people with all types of cancer.

It is also beneficial for those wishing to prevent cancer, for the protection of smokers, and for the treatment of those with whooping cough, difficulty in swallowing, appetite loss, menstrual disordersa and liver damage due to alcohol.

Carctol is not recommended as a substitute for conventional treatment, but as an adjuvant treatment.

However, it may also be taken for the treatment of cancer where the limits of conventional medicine have been reached.

Its use is part of a full nutritional regime that is prescribed by Dr Tiwari and those practitioners, with a full knowledge of the product..

A 560mg capsule of Carctol contains:
Hemidesmus Indicus (roots): 20 mg / Tribulus Terrestris (seeds): 20 mg / Piper Cubeba Linn (seeds): 120 mg / Ammani Vesicatoria (plant): 20 mg / Lepidium Sativum Linn (seeds): 20 mg / Blepharis Edulis (seeds): 200 mg / Smilax China Linn (roots): 80 mg / Rheumemodi Wall (roots): 20 mg"

June 22, 2006 18:49 - Cheat On Your Diet to Stay Slim!

I find it almost effortless to stick to a healthy eating plan if I indulge in a few 'naughties'.

Many of us find it easier to eat healthily if we allow ourselves a few cheats. As soon as we tell ourselves something is banned we usually tend to crave it more. The trick is knowing when to stop, or being able to!

However, when the majority of our diet consists of unprocessed foods including lots of fruit and veg we don't tend to crave too many unhealthy choices.

For example, I love chocolate [surprise surprise!]so I indulge in one small bar on most days. It's enough, and I really enjoy it. I never buy a large bar, because I can't trust myself to stop at 'just a few squares'! Also, although dark chocolate is deemed healthier, it doesn't satisfy my craving. It has to be milk choccy.

So allow yourself a 'little of what you fancy' and don't feel guilty. Just enjoy!

July 4, 2006 15:07 - Easy tip to alleviate hay fever.

If you suffer from hay fever you could try putting a drop or two of pure sesame oil up each nostril before venturing out. Pure cold pressed oil is best, do not even consider the toasted variety!

This may sound odd, but it's a tip I got from an ayurvedic doctor. I find it really works. It helps stop those irritants in their tracks.

In fact at the moment my partner is mowing the lawn, and is using this 'sesame oil trick'. He said that if he doesn't do it his eyes would start streaming after a short time...

I find the easist way to do it is rub a little of the oil into each nostril and then sniff.
