September 5, 2006 16:00 - Are your cosmetics safe? Find out now!

I've just visited Skindeep at ewg.org and was shocked to find that some of my favourite cosmetics have some pretty scary ingredients...

But no problem, because there are lots of fabulous, lower risk substitutes.

Here's some of what the Skindeep homepage has to say:

'Did you know: the government cannot mandate safety studies of cosmetics, and only 11 percent of the 10,500 ingredients FDA has documented in products have been assessed for safety by the cosmetic industry's review panel. Explore your products with Skin Deep's in-depth rating guides, and find safer choices for you and your family.'

So, of you're concerned just visit Skindeep and search the database of 14,841 products [at time of writing this].

I've spent most of today researching, throwing things in the bin and ordering new, and safer, products. Look at it as a good excuse to shop for new skincare and makeup!

September 12, 2006 11:54 - Be ageless!

I believe our true selves are truly ageless..

Our bodies are not ageless, but if we keep an ageless attitude that will show on the outside and we will look more youthful.

The best we can do is keep ourselves looking as good as possible. I believe this is best done from the outside in.

With the help of a few 'outer aids' such a good sunsceens, subtle cosmetics and flattering clothes...

All topped with a genuiunely happy smile.

I think two of the best antiaging miracles are yoga asanas and meditation. Here's a free easy meditation technique!

Yoga keeps the spine young, and it is said we are as old as our spine. As for meditation the profound relaxation it induces can smooth forhead lines beautifully.

I know many people well into their middle years and beyond who hardly have any lines on their forhead...

And any lines they have are happy and attractive lines, rather than stressed and stern looking lines!

There is a big difference!

Fresh air, good food, adequate sleep and exercise are also your antiaging friends...

So forget the date on that birth cerificate and just focus on being the best and the happiest ageless you!

September 19, 2006 15:31 - More money and less Xmas stress!

This is my last blog until sometime in October. I'm off on an internet-free trip. Although it won't be shop-free, I can hear my credit cards shaking with fear as I type this! Actually, that's a bit of poetic licence as I hardly ever use credit cards any more...

I prefer cash, and it saves me a fortune.

It's easy to hand over a card for that new pair of boots [that I don't really need, are too expensive and are alarmingly similar to another pair I bought recently]. However, it's much, much harder to hand over the cash...

Satisfying even. And that's the crux of the matter. Paying with credit cards never satisfies because we don't really feel we've 'spent' anything.

Taking an amount of cash that is within your budget to the shops should prove far more satisfying than running up a credit card bill...

And think of that smug glow of satisfaction when your credit card bill arrives and it's wonderfully low!

Now is a good time to start 'saving the pennies' as Xmas is fast approaching. So it'll be yet another way to avoid Xmas stress.

October 12, 2006 15:27 - Health awareness is better than illness awareness!

Lately there seem to be endless campaigns to be 'aware' of various illnesses. However, I believe, as do many others, that putting too much attention on illness could create it. Focusing too hard on the possibility of a particlular illness can become an affirmation...

And not a positive one! Far better to put our awareness on health and happiness.

Certainly, ayurveda believes that we can create what we put our attention on. So put your attention on doing all you can to stay healthy...

And, of course, happy!
