January 3, 2007 10:55 - A slender and happy 2007!

A very happy 2007 to you all. At the moment it's a wild and windy 2007 here on the Isle of Skye. Not unusual!

One of the most popular new year resolutions is "this year I will lose X amount of weight" That's a positive resolution, unless you're underweight! However, it can be a difficult resolution to achieve unless you get down to the cause of why you may be overeating...

So, if you want to lose weight, and you know the cause is over-eating, you could try the following.

Next time you're reach for that biscuit/cookie/chocolate between meals when you know you're not hungry...

stop...

Ask yourself what emotion you're feeling. It's probably something like boredom, loneliness, emptiness or anxiety.

Let yourself really feel it. Don't worry. Negative feelings tend to fade when we put our attention on them [positive feelings usually enhance]. This, I believe, is that positive and happy feelings are our true nature.

Ironically when we supress negative feelings by distracting ourselves by something such as eating the feeling just gets buried deeper and becomes stronger. As the feeling fades so, probably, will your desire for the foody item.

An easy way to get rid of supressed negative feelings is meditation. If you don't already meditate here's a free easy meditation technique. Lots of people find they effortlessly lose weight after they have been meditating for a short while.

January 10, 2007 10:43 - Worried about chain emails?

Have you had any of those horrid chain emails lately? You know, the ones that say if you don't forward this to a certain amount of friends bad luck will befall you...

Well it might interest you to know I have not forwarded a single one. One of them even said I only had a week to live if I didn't do what it said. Well that was a few years ago, and I'm still here!

I'm not blaming the people who send them to me. They just get caught up in the fearmongery and are frightened not to.

I believe we create our own reality and the only way these 'phrophecies' can be harmful is if we believe in them, and thus they become a negative affirmation.

So, make up your own mind, but I certainly will not be forwarding any because I believe they are nonsense and have no power.

By the way, be sure to email this page to at least ten friends...only joking!

I wish you health and happiness.

January 30, 2007 20:04 - The answer to cancer?

I've already recommended a fabulous book, called 'The Answer To Cancer' on this site. I think this book really is too good to miss, so I'm recommending it again:

It's a really easy, enjoyable and lighthearted read. It explains how simple, natural things are the answer to cancer prevention.

A few clues? Well turmeric is amazing and protects the cells at the level of DNA. Conversely sugar is a no no. Why? Because cancer cells just love sugar!

For anyone who has cancer and is undergoing chemo it also recommends a regimen for helping the body to cope better.

February 6, 2007 12:13 - "Why the long face?"

We all know why Mister Ed [my favourite horse of all time] has a long face. But why do so many, who are not horses, have such loooong faces?

I think it's partly because society often programmes us to believe that 'serious' equals validity and intelligence.

Many 'intellectuals' might agree, but 'silly' people, like me, might say 'phooey'. Enlightened gurus have oft said to never trust a serious guru...

Why? Because enlightened beings are in bliss, and do not have long faces.

I believe we create what we put our attention on and that life is meant to be joyful. I also believe we help others by being cheerful.

Would you rather spend time with a 'serious' friend who points out the possible 'pitfalls' and 'dangers' hidden in everything? Or would you rather spend time with a happy friend who uplifts you and is positive about life, work, hobbies and relationships etc?

Also, by spending time with the former friend the gloom and doom phropecies are more likely to happen, as they could 'stick in your mind' and become a negative affirmation. Again, enlightened gurus have often said to avoid negative company.

The bible puts this brilliantly, as in 'don't cast pearls before swine'. I interpret this as don't share knowledge, beliefs, plans or info with those who you think may not understand or will probably give a negative response...

And thus 'rain on your parade'

Have a lovely, happy day!
