April 6, 2007 11:42 - A 'chocolatey' lazy blog!

Hi and Happy Easter! I've just got back from a trip and am feeling extremely lazy. So this blog is almost a copy of one of my 2005 blogs...

A popular article, especially at Easter, is about chocolate, particularly dark, being good for you. It is touted as being beneficial to your health if it contains a minimum of 70% chocolate solids. And, of course, only small amounts should be consumed daily. Approx 50 grams, or 2 ounces.

That's a very small Easter egg!

However,according to ayurveda, any choccy is not so good. It blocks the shrotas, which are essential for delivering nutrients and removing waste.

So the decision is yours. Personally I treat myself to chocolate once a week [OK, sometimes once a day!] and more often when away. And, of course, always at Easter. Dark, milk, or white, whichever takes my fancy!

Whatever type you go for...enjoy it, take your time. Luxuriate in the taste, and a little will be enough.

And if you decide to go without then good for you. You have more willpower than me!

Grrr!!! Feeling angry? Modern life will do that to you; so much to do and so little time!

However acting on anger is not good. We usually [always!] regret it later, especially if we have 'taken it out' on someone else, even if it's only the teddy!

We often hear the 'count to ten' instruction to disperse anger. Personally I find it easier to take three deep breaths, and the impulse to act on the anger has usually faded...

Do you think you're taking the 'sensible option' when you choose a diet cola over the the can that could contain up to seven teaspoonfuls of sugar?

Well neither are a good option but the 'diet drink' choice, containing aspartame, is seriously dangerous...

It has an alarming list of horrid side effects including serious vision and hearing problems and...

wait for it...

weight gain. What irony!


I always knew that aspartame was 'a bit dodgy' but only recently have I discovered it is actually
really really nasty. And to be avoided at all costs!

Of course, aspartame isn't just in diet drinks, it is lurking in all sorts of products that we innocently consume...
