May 3, 2007 09:47 - Are we poisoning ourselves with diet drinks?

Do you think you're taking the 'sensible option' when you choose a diet cola over the the can that could contain up to seven teaspoonfuls of sugar?

Well neither are a good option but the 'diet drink' choice, containing aspartame, is seriously dangerous...

It has an alarming list of horrid side effects including serious vision and hearing problems and...

wait for it...

weight gain. What irony!

I always knew that aspartame was 'a bit dodgy' but only recently have I discovered it is actually
really really nasty. And to be avoided at all costs!

You can view a list of the side effects at
sweetpoison.com. SweetPoison.com is a fabuloulsy informative site.

Of course, aspartame isn't just in diet drinks, it is lurking in all sorts of products that we innocently consume...

So lets get our 'detective hats' on and avoid this 'wee nasty".

May 6, 2007 13:05 - Are mammograms of any use?

Are you trying to decide whether or not to have mammogram screening? The following might just help you decide...

Mammograms cause breast cancer (and other cancer facts you probably never knew)

Many people, myself included, believe that holding onto resentments can cause cancer. So forgive everyone, past and present, that makes you seethe. Doesn't mean you have to like them!

Also, stating the obvious, it's best to keep yourself as healthy as possible. You'll also find a few gems [inexpensive ones!] in "The Answer To Cancer"

May 22, 2007 19:44 - Free tips to quit smoking!

Now that it has been illegal to smoke in pubs, restaurants etc in Scotland for some time the streets have become more polluted....

You can't walk past a bar or restaurant without at least one person , usually a group, 'having a quick fag' before they go back indoors to enjoy themselves. The doorways have become busier than the actual premises!

I've never been a smoker but I would often have 'just the one' to keep a friend company after a meal or whatever. Ok, they used to laugh at me 'cos I didn't inhale. However, then I could sort of see the attraction. There was something relaxing, almost seductive about it all...

Of course most of us have seen the "Don't let's ask for the moon! We have the stars" scene from Now Voyager, in which cigarettes play a starring role...

What a movie!

But I don't think there's anything romantic about a 'quick drag' outside in the cold [don't forget I'm in Scotland!] Added to that there are all the horrid health drawbacks. Let's face it the health warnings are nearly covering the entire packet now! Soon we''ll need a microscope to see what brand we are buying!

Anyway, to cut to the chase, I bet most people who smoke want to give up more than ever. And I know it's not easy! So in the hope it may be of some help here's my quit smoking tip page.
