October 10, 2007 19:34 - Start your day the hedgehog way!
And, no, I don't mean to amble langurously into the road as a speeding car approaches!
However, do try and start off slowly, with a little quiet time to yourself.
In my schooldays, and during my first few jobs, I always seemed to hurtle out the door, already late, piece of toast in hand, fastening my clothes at the same time...
Because I always wanted that extra five minutes in bed that always turned out to be at least twenty!
But of course, what happened was that I never seemed to catch up with myself and the whole day semed hectic. So although not many have the luxury of lots of extra time in the morning [or any!] even finding five minutes to sit quietly before hurtling off will enhance your day.
Have a happy one!
October 12, 2007 19:29 - Watch what you say in anger!
Do you have a turbulent pest in your life?
Well, careful how you deal with him or her. When Henry II said rashly "will nobody rid me of this turbulent priest?" he could not have known that four of his knights would take him literally and do the King the 'favour' of murdering the Archbishop of Canterbury, Thomas a Becket...
Yikes!
I know it's not as if we all have knights fawning over us, hanging on our every utterance [well I don't!] but we should still watch our words.
Words said in anger are usually regretted; no matter how much we try and justify them to ourselves and others.
So what should we say in anger? Well, ideally absolutely nothing!
Wait till you are calm before speaking and the results should be more life affirming...
But what if you can't calm down because you're absolutely fuming? Well you could always try these these anger management tips before you go and find your knights!
And on that note, good night!
October 15, 2007 19:40 - Improve your kissing!
Kissing is fun, but if you or your partner has halitosis one of you is not enjoying it as much as you should be! Rather than explain why you have taken to wearing a gas mask, or wondering why he or she is wearing one, just invest in a tongue scraper...
Overnight, a white and smelly coating can appear on the tongue. Yuk! In ayurveda this coating is known as 'ama'. It is actually the result of less-then-perfect digestion. And not many of us have perfect digestion! Ama builds up in the physiology, but is easy to remove from the tongue...
Just invest in a tongue scraper and gently scrape your tongue every morning. Tongue scrapers can be bought in most chemists [pharmacies/drugstores].
And to improve your digestion and hence lessen the build-up of ama in your system try these ayurveda for weight loss tips. They are excellent for improving your digestion whether you want to lose weight or not.
Happy smooching!
October 17, 2007 20:38 - Create your own luck!
Recently, at the end of a heavenly evening with a wonderful friend, a black cat walked across our path...Generally this feline event is considered to be good luck. However there are some that consider it to be not so auspicious.
I believe that it's not a situation, item or event that is lucky or unlucky, but what we project onto them.
For example, many believe walking under a ladder is bad luck, and that you should do something like spit three times through the rungs to avert future disaster...
Imagine explaining that on the way to the police station!
I believe we create our own 'luck' Simply put, expect the highest and that's what we'll get.
So let's anticipate the best of happiness, health and prosperity. Do not even entertain thoughts of their opposites!
And if something sweet happens, like a dark cat crossing your path, enjoy it for the age-old charm involved in the legend, but know that the real power, the true and beautiful magic, lies within ourselves.
October 18, 2007 19:45 - Boring: The Blog. You won't laugh. You'll cry. You'll fall asleep...
My fave of all the spiritual gurus is Osho. I never find him boring, he is inspiring and enlightening...
I've read many of his books and somewhere I remember him saying that most people 'die' by or before the age of thirty. Their physical bodies obviously live on but their souls are 'dead'...
They lose their spontaneity, their fun. They are literally 'bored to death'.
Please please, I beg of you, don't be bored.
Life is precious, a gift. Don't waste it. Celebrate your existence every day. Laugh, dance, sing, get out in nature and, above all, do not watch rubbish mind numbing TV!
Find your joy, find what makes your heart sing. Let go of all that is old and stale that does not enhance your existence.
Granted, it can be painful and scary letting go of the past. But once you create the space for the new you will be amazed what riches, what joy, you let in.
Another of my fave gurus is Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and he has said:
"Nature favours the brave"
Be brave. Now. Get out there and live. Be outrageous. Have fun. Don't waste your time caring what 'dead' people think.
Have fun fun fun fun and more fun!
P.S.
Yesterday I wrote my blog, having had a few drinks with a friend. Sounds fun, I know. But the mind numbing effects of it actually ruined my evening. I should have stuck to a nice mug of tea, one of which I have next to me as I tap this...
Anyway, back to yesterday's blog. It was entirely lacking in magic, due to the fairydust not being able to reach my brain through the alcohol induced fug...
So I would like to say, for those that read my "black cat" blog that yes, although we can create our own magic from our minds, some things are simply pure magic, in and of themselves.
And to you know who you are that black cat was truly magical and perfect. Meeow!
