If you've already visited my womens weight loss page you'll find that some of the tips are repeated here. But there are also some extras.

So lets get on with ayurveda for weight loss...

Beginning with breakfast:

According to Ayurveda, is not a necessary meal. Do not eat it if you are not hungry. If you are hungry, then have a small amount of something like cereal or toast.

Fruit makes a wonderful breakfast. Stewed apples, with a few soaked dates would be perfect. But it's your choice,I don't think you can go wrong with fruit.

Your heaviest meal should be lunch . Try and eat this between noon and 1pm. An ideal meal would be well cooked basmati rice, dhal, (or another healthy protien) and a selection of steamed vegetables.

If this is not possible then still eat your heavier food at lunchtime...

And your supper could be a lovely plate of the veggies you didn't have the chance to have at lunch. This works well, because supper should not be missed, but it should be light.

Other good supper alternatives are soup, porridge or semolina. Try not to eat anything after 8pm.

The 'key' to Ayurveda is the digestive fire (agni). This burns higher and stronger at lunchtime. Hence the emphasis on the heavier food when it is easy to digest...

The more you help your digestion, the easier and quicker it can burn those calories.

To aid digestion, and hence burn those calories quicker here are some more tips:

If possible go for at least a ten minute walk after each meal, particularly lunch. This, literally, massages the intestines and is a fabulous aid to digestion.

If you couple this with an exercise like the five rites you'll reach your perfect weight in no time.

These dynamic exercises are also from ancient times. They take as little as ten minutes a day. They'll will help you lose weight effortlessly; they certainly work for me...

Sip hot water throughout the day. This keeps that digestive fire going. A sip every half hour is perfect.

A small amount of hot water along with meals is good. Do not drink too much with meals as it dilutes your digestive juices.

A happy digestive system is a healthy one: So sit down to eat , in a relaxed atmosphere. Do not eat if you are angry or upset.

Do not eat too much raw food, cooked food digests more easily.

Chew your food well. If you don't do this your system has to work extra hard to do your work as well as it's own!!
