What is the benefit of fasting?

  • Another benefit of fasting is that you will digest your food better. This means that your body will absorb nutrients more easily. So you will crave less food, and calories will be burnt up more efficiently.

    So you'll be slithering into those slinky little numbers in no time!

    It's easier than you may imagine. Even after a short fast the mental, physical and spiritual benefits are powerful.

    Since ancient times it has been considered a cure-all by many. And modern scientists are of this same opinion.

    The benefit of fasting has been the best health secret, throughout the ages!

    When the body goes into starvation mode cells that are damaged or diseased are the first to disappear. Also stress is put on the cells. Read on to discover why this is a good thing...



    This has the same effect as exercise has on muscles. Your cells become stronger and can resist aging and illness much more easily.

    Many have been and are of the opinion that if a disease cannot be cured by fasting then it cannot be cured at all. I think this is a positive statement as it shows that we are in control of our bodies.

  • An easy option is a short juice or water fast. And a really easy option is a one day juice fast. Choose a time when you are not doing anything strenuous. Just drink fruit juice, home made or a healthy shop bought variety. I think it is good to dilute the juice with water, half and half.

    Have a glass every few hours. Choose whatever juice or combination of juices that appeals to you.

    And drink plenty of plain water as well. Try and stick to only uplifting company, books, magazines, movies etc. After all our poor brains also need a break from toxic imput!

    A one day juice or water fast once a week is reasonably easy and very beneficial.

    A powerful and easy detox is a grape fast. Grapes are surprisingly filling, and at the same time amazingly cleansing. I have often taken a grape fast of from one to five days.

    It is so easy. I never felt hungry. (Well, not much!)

    After a fast I feel fabulous. At the moment I am fasting from dinner to dinner about twice a week. My skin glows, I have more energy and my head feels so clear, whenever I fast regularly.

    A pleasant bonus clothes that were becoming tight (or shrunk in the wash!) become lovely and loose again.

    If you are doing the grape fast and get bored just eating them cold you can always gently heat a few in the oven. I find them delicious like this. Of course, alternating between black, red and green adds variety (she connvinces hereself!)

    So you have a varied menu and don't even miss out on a hot meal!



    Johanna Brandt cured herself (and many others) of serious illness by enjoying a grape fast. She wrote a book about it, and I think it is wonderful.
