Japa Meditation..easy guide.

Japa meditation is another alternative to the easy meditation technique on this site. It's similar except that the 'mantra' [word] is spoken (chanted)...

Many people find this easier and/or preferable to silent repetition. Some find it better to begin outwardly chanting, progressing to an internal repetition. (In the same session).

Choose any word you like, at long as it uplifts you. Many people use the name of their God or Guru [as a form of prayer]. This can, of course, be a very powerful (and enjoyable) technique.

If you want to hear 'japa meditation' in an everyday situation just go to a ball game...or pop concert!

You'll hear the name of 'Adored Ones' chanted over and over, it's no wonder the atmosphere can be so magical.

108 times is supposed to be a powerful amount of times to chant your word. Prayer (or mala)beads are often used for this purpose. One bead for each time you chant.

Or just do it for the amount of time that feels comfortable to you (anything up to twenty minutes).

Five minutes, or even two, is better than nothing!

You should feel happier and more relaxed afterwards so it is definitely not a waste of your time. There are lots of benefits

You can enjoy japa mediatation on your own. Or you may like getting a group together. The effect multiplies dramatically with more people.

Whatever meditation you decide upon (silent or spoken) make sure you choose the one you enjoy.

And there is no harm in 'mix and match'. For example I usually use the silent mantra technique, but sometimes I enjoy japa meditation...

Happy chanting!!
